2020/21 School Year and Covid-19 safety plan

The Woodland Park Co-op Board and other active co-op members have worked with guidance from North Seattle College and public health authorities to develop a safe, fun co-op preschool experience that lets kids be kids.

We are beginning the school year under Phase 2 and will make adjustments if/when King County changes phases.

Phase 1

If King County reverts to Phase 1, we will offer a virtual program including Zoom circle times, take home materials and opportunities to reserve our playground and borrow toys from the preschool.

Phase 2 – Current Offering

During Phase 2, classes are divided into smaller groups that meet in-person outdoors. Each small group meets approximately half the time that the regular class does.

  • 2s/3s: Thurs 9-11am with Teacher Althea
  • Preschool Multiage:  Mon/Wed 9-11am with Teacher Althea
  • 3s/4s:
    • Group 1: Mon/Thus 1:30-4pm with Teacher Christi
    • Group 2: Tues/Fri 1:30 – 4pm with Teacher Christi
  • Kindergarten:
    • Group 1: Tues/Thurs/every other Monday 9-2pm with Teacher Rachel
    • Group 2: Wed/Fri/every other Monday 9-2pm with Teacher Rachel

All classes are fully outdoors. Preschool uses our outdoor classroom, and kindergarten spends time in the outdoor classroom as well as neighborhood green spaces.

Masks are required for adults and children 5 and over, and encouraged for younger children. We are using symptom screening, temperature checks and enhanced cleaning/sanitizing to maintain a safe environment.

Due to the limited class sizes, many classes are full. But WPC is maintaining wait lists for each age group, and classes could grow depending on public health guidance as the state of the pandemic changes. See the Enrollment page for details.

Phase 3

If King County moves to Phase 3, we will offer more in-person time in each class, along with a larger group size.

Phase 4

If King County moves to Phase 4, we will return to our regular class schedule including indoor as well as outdoor time.
