Registration Dates:

Open Registration: February 11 (Apply anytime after an open house or school visit!)

*Waitlist available for our preschool classes. Limited kindergarten spots available.

AGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preschool is for children between 2-4 years of age. Children must be 2 by August 31, 2023
  • Kindergarten class: child must be 5 by August 31, 2023

Note: Age exceptions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

pRESCHOOL: REGISTRATION CHECKLIST

STEP 1: Get to know Woodland Park! An open house or tour attendance is required for enrollment, unless you are an alumni family. Email us at woodlandparkcoop.preschool@gmail.com to schedule a tour.

STEP 2: Complete the online application. (If you are a current or alumni family, please login into your Jovial account and access the application form there instead).

STEP 3: Parents will be notified on a rolling basis whether their child has been offered a spot or added to the waitlist.

STEP 4: If offered a spot, a non-refundable $40 registration fee must be paid no later than 48 hours after you are notified of acceptance into the program, or you will forfeit your space.

KINDERGARTEN: REGISTRATION CHECKLIST

STEP 1: An open house or tour attendance is required for enrollment, unless you are an alumni family. If you have any questions or want to set up a tour, contact the Kindergarten Parent Coordinator at kindergarten.wpcp@gmail.com.

STEP 2: Read through the information packet and complete the online application.

STEP 3: Pay the one-time $50 non-refundable application fee. You will be emailed a link for payment after your application is received.

STEP 4: If offered a spot, families will have one week to accept placement and submit first month’s tuition deposit after being offered a spot. Make sure to sign and submit the Enrollment Agreement along with the first month’s tuition (non-refundable) via Jovial.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: What are your tuition rates?

A: Please see our Tuition page.

Q: Does my child need to be potty trained?

A: No. You are welcome to send your child with diapers and a change of clothes for their cubby. If you are pursuing toilet learning at home and would like your child to be prompted, reminded, or otherwise assisted, just let the teacher and your fellow parents know so they can be consistent. If your child needs a diaper change or assistance in the restroom, 2 adults will always be present with that child.

Q: Am I required to drop off my child? What if my child does not want to separate?

A: In general, you are always welcome to stay in class with your child. Some parents have stayed every session for a whole year and never dropped off. However, while COVID remains an issue, we may have limits on how many people can be present in the class at one time, so we may not be able to accommodate all parents staying. You can email your class letting them know you’d like to stay, and quite likely another working parent would be happy to take your drop off spot for you. If you do want or need to drop off and your child is struggling with separation, the teacher or working parent will hold space for them and comfort your child if they wish. You can let the teacher know what’s most comforting to your child and when you would like to be phoned if your child continues to experience distress.

Q: How is conflict handled at school? What if a child hits or bites?

A: At Woodland Park, we understand that these behaviors are normal and developmentally appropriate and at the same time, that all children need to feel safe and comfortable at school. Working adults or the teacher will first calmly intervene to keep the situation safe, for instance, blocking a hit or putting our bodies between the children. Our goal is to get the children into dialogue with each other, although this may not happen every time. We might make an observation to prompt conversation and support children in articulating their feelings and reading the feelings of others. If hitting or a similar behavior becomes persistent for a child, the teacher and parent educator will make a plan to address it and may enlist help from working parents.

Q: Can my nanny/babysitter/au pair/relative take on my workshift?

A: Yes, we welcome all caregivers.

 

Q: Does participation in the Phinney Neighborhood Preschool Co-op (PNPC) or the Woodland Park Co-op Summer program qualify a family for Priority or Transfer registration?

A: Unfortunately, this does not qualify.

 

Q: I have another child who attended or attends Woodland Park Co-op, do I still need to tour?

A: Current or alumni families do not need to tour

 

Q: Does attendance at an open house count as a tour?

A: Yes, attendance at an open house counts as a tour.

Q: I’m interested in kindergarten, but my older children have early release on Wednesdays with Seattle Public Schools. How can I make that work?

A: Parents with older children in SPS can choose a workday other than Wednesday. Our kindergarten program is also flexible with early pickup!
